Somali drought 2022

In Somalia for a week covering the current drought for Tg1. Somalia is living its worst drought in 40 years. Rain has not been falling for two years now. 1.4 million people have already left their villages in search of water and medical support. I had the opportunity to visit the state of Puntland for a week and document the crisis for @tg1_rai_official thanks to @savethechildrenitalia. The stories I heard were all identical. Dramatically simple: without water animals die. Without animals people doesn’t have food. Without food children are weak, become ill. And die. The last drought in 2011 killed 260.000 throughout East Africa, about half were children under five years old. #climatechange #somalidrought #somalia #climate #globalwarming
